Agar Agar is used as 100% vegetarian substitute for Gelatin (manufactured from animal bones and skin) in the food industry. The usage is fast gaining ground due to the worldwide shift for products of vegetable origin. Agar Agar has been used for many centuries as high performance gelling agent. Its ability to produce clear colourless, odourless, and natural gels without the support of other colloids has long been exploited by the food industry as a stabilizing and gelling agent. Agar Agar gels at 34°C to 42°C and melts at 80°C to 98°C. This unmatched natural hysteresis offers a definite advantage particularly with regard to the shelf life of food preparations.Agar is used as a thickening agent in low calorie marmalades, jams, processed meat products, bakery fillings, icings, prepared soups, ice-creams, etc. and as a gelation agent in doughnuts, jelly candy, fruit yogurts, acidified creams, cheese, puddings, custards, flans, fruit desserts, whipped fruit pulp, etc. Agar can also be used in spreadable products like honey, butter, peanut butter, jam products  (Substitution of pectin to decrease sugar level).

1. Agar Agar Bacteriological Grade : Agar Agar as a culture media is widely used for practically all pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria and fungi because it is not easy to metabolise and has a good gel firmness, elasticity, clarity and stability. Because of its high gellifying power and its vegetable origin, Agar Agar constitutes a natural non-toxic matrix for the formation of culture media in Microbiology.

2. Agar Agar Food Grade (China Grass) : Agar Agar is used as 100% vegetarian substitute for Gelatin (manufactured from animal bones and skin) in the food industry. The usage is fast gaining ground due to the worldwide shift for products of vegetable origin. Agar Agar has been used for many centuries as high performance gelling agent.

3. Agar Agar Food Grade Strips : Agar Agar Food Grade is also available in the form of strips packed in 25 gram with Red Ribbon tied at both ends, in 2 kg cartons containing 80 packets.

4. Agar Agar Pharma Grade : Agar Agar is useful as a laxative. When hydrated, it provides a smooth, non-irritant bulk in the digestive tract. It is also used in preparation of emulsions, suspensions, capsules and suppositories in surgical lubricants and as a suspending agent for Barium sulphate Radiology.

5. Agar Agar Plant Tissue Culture Grade : The major application of Agar Agar is in the field of plant tissue culture. The growing interest in tissue culture as a standard method for the propagation of orchids and other ornamental plants, vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products.

6. Plant Gel (Gellan Gum) : Plant Gel is the brand name for the Gellan Gum of Marine Hydrocolloids. Gellan Gum is a High Molecular weight (formula weight approximately 500,000) Poly saccharide gum produced by fermentation of a carbohydrate by pseudomonas Elodea, purified, dried and powdered.

Gellan Gum will disperse in cold water. Dispersion is aided by use of warm/hot water. Gellan gum can be used as a replacement for Agar Agar for many applications. Plant Gel can be used for making clear gel, with rigidity, thermal stability, compatible with natural additives. Hence ideal for preparation of nutrient media for most microbial application and plant tissue culture work.

7. Wondergel (Spreadable Agar-Agar) :
Spreadable Agar-agar Type WONDERGEL is a unique functional ingredient obtained by transforming the rigid structure of native agar-agar with no chemical treatment to give a softer and creamy texture while still maintaining the natural benefits of seaweed fiber. WONDERGEL is an excellent alternative for partial or total replacement of traditional animal-based gelling agents and other expensive hydrocolloids to provide a particularly delicate and succulent mouthfeel with smooth thixotropic flow. Common applications for WONDERGEL are for preparation of Thermoreversible Cake glaze, Decorative Piping Gel, Yogurt, cream fillings & custards, soft creamy instant puddings etc.

8. Agarose : Agarose is a polyacrylamide obtained from agar agar that is used for a variety of life science applications especially in gel electroscopes. Agarose forms an inert matrix utilized in separation techniques. Many structures easily affix to agarose including various types of proteins. Our Agarose is ultra pure grade and is recommended for analytical and preparative electrophoresis. Also recommended for DNA, RNA Recoveries, Nucleic Acid Electrophoresis, Protein Electrophoresis, etc.
